AMER PubSec Splunk User Group

Dataminr and AI for real time risk and threat detection and alerting, integrated with Splunk SIEM and SOAR

I'd like to introduce myself, I'm Mitch Ratner, Director of Global ISV Partnerships at Dataminr (email: mitchell.ratner@dataminr.com).  Dataminr has built integrations into Splunk Enterprise, ES and SOAR, and our apps are currently available via the Splunkbase marketplace.

We've sponsored several user group meetings in the recent past, in Australia, NYC and SFBA, and are about to do so again in Australia.  We would like to sponsor one of your upcoming chapter meetings too.

Our presentation on AI and its use in our risk and threat detection platform is solid and technical, with a focus on the practitioner.

Building solid relationships with you as well is a great outcome.

Please consider us for an upcoming event sponsorship, happy to discuss further at your convenience.

Best Regards,

Mitch Ratner

Hello Mitch,

I'm not against the concept of sponsored events, but I also don't want to just have events that exist to sell products. The intended members of this group are people that work on PubSec programs, and that means that we rarely have product choice allowed to us, or purchasing power.

So this isn't a hard 'no', but I'm trying to at least initially discourage this group being used as a sales platform, as that is 100% not what Splunk User Groups are proposed for per Splunk's own ToS on them. I'd be happy to talk about sponsorship of events and possible demos at a later time, as you said when we get larger.

Respectfully,

Brandon Sternfield

Thank you for the consideration, and look forward to following your group. When the time is right, we can revisit.

best regards,

Mitch
